History/Culture: Fear of Number 13 - Triskaidekaphobia
By Igor Bukker
Europeans, especially Anglo-Saxons, are highly superstitious when it comes to the number 13. They say that if 13 people sit down at one table, one of them will die within a year. Friday the 13th is considered to be an unlucky day. The 13th day of a month, the 13th storey, the number 13, 13 coins in a purse are considered to bring ill luck. In a word, everything containing the baker’s dozen is considered to be unlucky. In Russia this number is known as the devil’s dozen. Where does it come from and why don’t other peoples believe in the magic of this number?
Triskaidekaphobia is a fear of the number 13. The words to denote this phenomenon were borrowed from ancient Greek and Latin, although at that time there was no fear of the number. People used to associate the number 12 with plentitude and completeness. There are 12 Olympic gods, 12 zodiacal signs, 12 months a year and 12 disciples. If any number is added to the “holy” number, there will be uncertainty and unpredictability. Judas was the 13th guest at the Last Supper, which was considered to be unlucky. As long as the Wicca teaching and other non-pagan movements gathered popularity in the second half of the 20th century, a theory appeared that said that there were always 13 witches in a Sabbath. However, the church has never confirmed it, nor has it tried to make the faithful believe it. ...

Other News: Tune in Your Radio to Hear Voices of the Dead
By Egor Dymov, Yoki.ru
Horror films are more than popular. Those who like to feel the rush of adrenaline in their blood are especially fond of horror films that are allegedly based on real events. Communicating with the dead has been one of the most popular horror themes for decades. There is a separate branch in the theme – when a film character communicates with ghosts via radio signals. The phenomenon has a scientific name – the electric voice phenomenon (EVP).
There are plenty of online resources dedicated to this phenomenon. The most distinctive movie of the genre, White Noise, describes a miserable widower who traces radio interferences day and night and discovers messages from the other world once in a while.
Many scientists tried to establish a connection with the other world using various technical devices. In 1920, Thomas Edison put forward an idea that our ego, transferring to the other world, had to preserve its ability to affect matter even from there. If this is the case, then sensitive equipment would be able to register these effects, it just has to be invented. This original idea was used as the epigraph for White Noise. ...

Other News: Lightning Can Open Doors to Parallel Worlds

Approximately 10 years ago, children began to disappear from an amusement park of the British town of Kent. The kids would enter the hall of mirrors and never came out.
The local police ran off their legs. Recently, a psychic lady announced that she knew where the kids were. According to her, there was a door to the other world behind one of the mirrors in the amusement park.
We live in a 3-D space where everything is measured by height, width and length, and we are only capable of thinking within these limits. We know that one dimension is an endless straight line. We can easily imagine two dimensions – a subspace, or plain surface, and we can see three usual dimensions around. Yet, even academic science acknowledges that there are more dimensions out there.
There is the so-called “string theory” popular in contemporary physics. It is very difficult to understand, but it admits the existence of other dimensions.
“There can be up to 26 dimensions, but they are sort of folded, so we cannot see them. We have not managed to find them through experiments either,” explained Aleksey Basilevich, Doctor of Physics.
If the fourth and other dimensions exist, where do they lead? ...

We explore the Archetypes of Fool through Fortune to gather strength and guidance. In so doing, we learn to embody the cards and understand them at the deepest level of knowing.
THE STRESS TEST
So, the federal government is going to administer a "stress test" to America's banks by putting hypothetical demands on them to see what kind of resources they possess to meet the posed challenges.
Synchronistically speaking, "as above, so below," and "I am thou," we are all undergoing stress tests. ...

International: Famous Astrologist Predicts Global Crisis in 2010
Will destroy EU and NATO
Pavel Globa, a well-known astrologist, predicts that Russia will successfully extricate from the current financial crisis, although it is not going to happen soon. Russia, the astrologist said, will suffer a lot less in comparison with the United States and the European Union. The latter may even collapse, Globa said. The West will suffer from a major crisis in two years, which will subsequently result in the change of the world order.
“Russia will survive; the situation here is not that catastrophic. There will be forces and there will be opportunities,” the astrologist said in an interview with Novy Region news agency. He also said that the economic block of the Russian government would be dismissed in the winter of 2009 and the national banking system would collapse.
“Russia will experience the severe economic crisis for two more years, until 2010. The consequences will be serious, but we will handle it. Many key figures, including Finance Minister Aleksei Kudrin, will leave the government soon. The entire economic block of the government will be renewed. I believe that it is going to happen this coming winter, in January and February 2009, when the new stage of the crisis begins.” Globa said. ...

"MIND'S EYE MAGIC TAROT"
A Novel Way of Reading the Cards
Most of the time when I do Readings for others and myself, the cards are picked from the deck facedown. This insures some level of fresh insight as we cannot project what we'd like to see. Selecting cards facedown breaks us free of how we ordinarily think and in this time of change and uncertainty, old views and beliefs are often obsolete.
I am frequently asked how often I do the cards and I say it's every day in every way. However, this does not mean that I actually spread out the cards and do a Reading. In fact, the deepest and most powerful use of the cards is by doing them within your own mind's eye. Whenever I need some wise counsel from the tarot, I usually flash the cards in my imagination and one of them sticks out. That's the card and that's the advice. And it works!
This technique I call "mind's eye magic" was discovered when I was at a radio station and ready to go on live and use the cards to answer phone calls from listeners with questions. I suddenly realized that I had forgotten the cards. Yikes, the horror. What to do? Be creative. Immediately, it came to me to try this technique. It worked well and none of the listeners ever knew what I was doing. ...

Other News: Vanga Predicted Break Out of Third World War in 2010

There are not many people who believe in clairvoyants’ predictions. However, such beliefs stay strong until those predictions begin to come true. As for the predictions of the Bulgarian remote-viewer and healer Vanga (Vangelia Gushterova), people began to listen out for her words long ago. Vanga presumably became known for her predictions of global disasters.

For example, Vanga predicted the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States, when she said that American brothers would fall under attacks of birds of steel. The clairvoyant also predicted the beginning of WWII, the perestroika in the USSR, the death of Princess Diana and even the sinking of the Kursk submarine. ...

CARDS OF THE MONTH: Chariot and Strength
Why "cards" of the month? Why not the usual "card of the month?" Because we find ourselves moving from Cancer, which is the Chariot, to Leo, which is Strength.
So? This transition from Chariot to Strength is about coming out of your crab-like shell, stop moving sideways, run at the slightest hint of surprise, and seek to escape challenges and fears, which are all downsides of the Chariot archetype. The hero-side of the Chariot is a "spiritual warrior," that part of us wanting to grow, achieve and overcome tests and obstacles.
The Strength archetype reinforces the heroic Chariot because dwelling within your "heart of the lion" is to come out, come out whoever you are. Now is the time to choose change and move on so that you can live your unfulfilled destiny. It takes inner strength to speak your truth, declare your colors, and express your feelings. The lion within is your ally, an inner giant that confronts weakness, confusion, vacillation, uncertainty. It's not always about being right, but being authentic so that you can author your life. ...

Alien News: Deja Vu, Jamais Vu, False Memory Play Dirty Tricks on Humans

When people complain of their memory, they usually talk about their forgetfulness. However, the human memory can bring another surprise too – non-existent recollections.
Déjà vu is an experience, which gives a person a feeling that he or she has already seen or experienced a new situation (people, places, etc) before. It does not seem to matter much at first sight. However, those, who saw a mystical side to it, could not leave the phenomenon out of their attention. They decided that déjà vu was a memory of the previous life. Intelligent and educated people may often swallow the bait of reincarnation too. Carl Gustav Jung was once struck with a painting depicting a doctor. The shoes, which the doctor was wearing on the painting, seemed very familiar to him. The psychologist eventually concluded that he was wearing those shoes in his previous life, when he was the doctor shown on the painting.
Déjà vu (translates as ‘already seen’ from French) was later classified into deja vecu (‘already lived’), deja senti (‘already felt’) and deja entendu (‘already heard’). It has the antonym too – jamais vu (‘never seen’). The latter may happen to a person when he or she comes home and suddenly realizes that it is a totally unfamiliar place.
Scientists say that déjà vu mainly occurs to people aged 15-17 and 35-40. ...

CARD OF THE MONTH: UNIVERSE
Wow, the biggest card in the tarot full of so many symbols, so many possibilities – just like the universe. Remember, Voyager Tarot is a journey to the universe within us and that everything in the physical universe is symbolic in some way about yourself. That's why Voyager is a chock full busy tarot. We are busy, busy even when sleeping with a universe of possibilities at hand in the morning.
So, what does this all mean when you pick the Universe Card. Get busy, get confused, get distracted, get overwhelmed, get everywhere but really nowhere?
This Card tells you to get a sign or symbol or idea that attracts you and explore it, all for the purpose of creating your own universe. The Card is about manifesting your intention and that means changing, completing and beginning, and continuing on like Michelangelo's "emerging giant" sculpture piece in the middle of the Card. Like a sculpture, to
make something, get rid of, chip away, and release until as Michelangelo said, "the angel is set free." ...

CARD OF THE MONTH – HERMIT
When people pick the Hermit card they often groan and moan about being alone and lonely. Perhaps, but this archetype can be a prosperous kind. In the Hermit, you see the introspective Hermit go to the inner cave (below the Mayan Sage sculpture) and take the inner gifts (see the gold and sun within the cave) into the outer world to create a harvest of success (see all the wheat on the right side of the card). The Hermit is a perfect example of a person who taps their inner human resources to be professionally self-sufficient and abundant. Utilizing the number 9 Minor cards, the Hermit is focused (9 of Crystals), integrated (9 of Wands) and finds fulfillment in the process (9 of Cups) to manifest a harvest (9 of Worlds). Inside of you are all the talents of the Major Archetypes that you need to be a success. Use the tarot as a means of tapping these resources. Do the "Archetypes of Success" Reading, says the Hermit. ...

Cards of the Month: Death & Disappointment
by James Wanless
"Oh, Those Cards"
It is said, "the cards never lie." And I know why. They represent universal qualities that are true of all human beings all of the time. Tarot is a "spiritual psychology" in that every facedown card you choose was picked by you in trust from the mystery of the unknown, and each card is a symbolic mirror of yourself. Used this way, Tarot reminds you who you are and even offers advice for situations that problematic.
Recently, on our Voyager "Aloha Tarotha" retreat in Hawaii, the card I picked for the entire week as a guiding message was Death. So many folks are afraid of doing the Tarot for that very reason, the Death card. Now the Death card comes up all the time in our Readings, and we just don't go out and croak (most of the time, that is). So, Death is about change, releasing, liberating, a rebirth of some kind.
Here I am leading this group in paradise and saying to myself, "Why the Death card?" It was all about letting go of those parts of the program that I couldn't control and manage. On a deeper level, it meant being perfectly equanimous and accepting of that. The Death card on our group altar kept staring me in the face and telling me to relax and accept. In fact, I had the most rejuvenating week, a time of special transcendent joy! Indeed, "the dead can dance" and find fulfillment to the bones. ...
